Bodging for Beginners

Bodgers are historically craftsman that primarily worked in forested areas close to towns.
Their main task was to create chair legs and other turned wooden components for furniture, particularly Windsor chairs.
They would often work directly in the woods usually where the trees were being felled, utilising green (unseasoned) wood.
Around the corner from us here at Breedon, Peter Wood (not a made up name!) set up his company, Greenwood Days in 1994. Peter is actually a World Champion Wood Turner (who knew?) and travels around the country showing others how to do it, as well as doing some TV work too, when he's not running his lessons in Spring Wood.
We've had quite a few students of Peter's stay here over the years due to our proximity to Spring Wood. Tuition courses can last 1, 2 or more days depending on the scale/complexity you wish to embark upon!
Courses start in April and run through the summer months until October and can encompass everything from making a chair or chairs and/or table(s) or indeed weaving your own coffin! Peter will also tailor individual sessions or family sessions if the course dates don't tally with your diary, its always worth enquiring anyway.
Peter has also generously offered the following deals:
"I’ve a one-day greenwood experience on either 5th or 6th April which I can offer 20% off if one person books or if two people book together then it’s buy one and the second is half price.
Links are:
I can also offer a 20% discount on our early bench making course April 29th -4th May."
Contact Peter directly on 01332 864529 or 07946 163860 if you are interested in these special offers.
And in this spirit, we shall give 10% off to any of guests attending one of Peter's courses this year. All you have to do is bring along documentary evidence to show that you are enrolled and the discount is yours, and applies to everyone in your party. Happy bodging!
